The filter board is a 2nd order passive Low Pass filter which reduces noise on the thermocouple signal due to RFI/EMI noise. No external power is required to operate the connector or the filter board. The T type connector/filter board is housed in an aluminum enclosure for ruggedness and better noise immunity.
